A web-based Campus Information System developed with open-source GIS and web technologies, presenting the buildings, floors and units of Antalya Bilim University's Main Campus on a three-dimensional, interactive map.
The increasingly complex physical and administrative structure of higher education institutions makes static maps insufficient for accessing campus spaces and information. This project aimed to help newly arriving students and visitors in particular to become familiar with the campus buildings and to access floor plans and units systematically. The buildings, floors and administrative units of the campus were digitised in a GIS environment and organised in a spatial database, and these data were presented as 3D building models in the web browser. The smart search feature developed for the system finds a requested laboratory or classroom within seconds and displays it on the 3D map. The project has laid the foundation of a smart campus infrastructure that digitalises the university's spatial management processes.
